WESTERNSTAR LODGE #2
HAPPENINGS
In 1999, under the direction of Worshipful Master Perry I. Cohen, Western Star began having regular outings for the members of the lodge, their family and friends. This program was initiated to include the families of the members in the fraternity and to show non-masons that there is more to being a mason than going to lodge and being "secretive." The first outing was a family picnic held at Maumelle Park on the banks of the Arkansas River, followed by a trout fishing and camping trip to the White River in northern Arkansas. This program has continued under the direction of Master Ron Hubbard in 2000, Master Danny Poe in 2001, and Master Richard Dixon in 2002.
The following are photos of some of the outings over the last few years. Click on the thumbnail image to view the larger image and click the "back" button on your browser to return to this page.

April 2002 "Totally Tasteless Yard Party"
The "Totally Tasteless Yard Party", held at Brother Ron Hubbard's home, was an exercise in silliness. No person was permitted to enter without being dressed in tacky attire. Two whole pigs were purchased and prepared in the Cuban Style for the all day feast. Despite the intermittent rain, which persisted throughout most of the day, a great time was had by all. Later in the evening the band "Whiskey Bay" entertained those in attendance.
The first of two pigs are pulled off the fire by some questionable characters.
The rules of the game being explained by Past Master Hubbard, (center with ball), prepares to put the ball into play. The "soccer" game was played using no hands or feet, just a pair of nylons tied around the waist with an orange in the foot of the stocking. This made for an interesting tail from Past Master Poe.
Past Master Canady, swinging the orange in the hose around his waist, enjoying his role as goalie far too much. It wasn't often that he had to defend his goal.
